The Drawlab Bones & Slides is a multidisciplinary artistic project that explores the intersection between music and illustration. Created by Hugo Pedrosa, it brings original compositions to life through drawing, crafting a seamlessly interconnected visual and sonic experience.
Musically, the project blends jazz, rock, and experimental music, with the trombone as the lead instrument. The compositions are enriched by a lineup of internationally acclaimed musicians, adding dynamic and innovative layers to the sound.
Visually, the illustrations draw from diverse influences, ranging from manga and cartoon art to abstraction and realism. Each drawing emerges from the music while simultaneously offering new dimensions to its interpretation. This dialogue between image and sound creates a unique universe, where compositions take shape and illustrations find their rhythm.
More than just a fusion of two artistic languages, The Drawlab Bones & Slides proposes a new way of experiencing art—bridging the gap between music and visual storytelling. It invites music lovers into the world of illustration and brings visual art enthusiasts closer to musical performance. Additionally, the project challenges cultural centralization, proving that artistic innovation and creativity thrive beyond major urban centers.
Their debut full album is set to release in May 2025.
